SEO: customer journey, insights and taking action

Organize your keywords and pages, find missing links and work on the pages with the most to gain.

On this page

1. Customer journey

Every page belongs to a stage of the customer journey: getting to know you, considering, or buying.

  • Spread across the customer journey shows the share of pages per stage next to a guideline for your type of business, with impressions and clicks per stage.
  • Click Sort pages into the customer journey to give every page a stage automatically. Adjust it per page under Adjust pages per stage; your own choices are kept.
  • Agency users can click Keywords for a stage to get keyword suggestions for that stage.

2. Insights

Clusters (agency users): Group your keywords into topics.

  1. Create your clusters under Your clusters. For webshops you can use your product categories as clusters.
  2. Click Top up from Search Console to add the keywords you are already found for.
  3. Click Divide keywords into clusters.
  4. Then go to Customer journey and click Sort pages into the customer journey.

Internal links: A map per cluster showing which pages link to each other.

  1. Click Scan internal links. Up to 800 pages are scanned; you can leave the page while it runs.
  2. Pages with a red ring are orphans: no other page links to them. Add a link from a related page.

3. Take action

Worklist: Keep track of the pages you optimize.

  • Pages with the most to gain: pages just outside the top positions with many impressions and few clicks. Gain (clicks) is the estimated number of extra clicks per 28 days if the page rises to position 3. Audit issues are the problems the latest audit found on that page.
  • Click Add to work list. The current position is recorded, so you later see whether your changes helped.
  • Per page you set the status, whether it is indexed and what you changed.

Keyword research (agency users): Find new keywords before you create content.

  • Fetch suggestions: up to 100 related keywords with search volume, difficulty and cost per click. Free via the Google Ads Keyword Planner when available, otherwise 1 credit.
  • Analyze the top 10: how hard it is to rank for a keyword (1 credit).
  • Questions from Google: People also ask questions and related searches (1 credit, reused free for 30 days).
  • Popular content on this topic (1 credit).
  • Send promising keywords to the rank tracker with → Rank tracker.

Meta scan (agency users): Search for a word in all your meta titles and descriptions, for example an old year or "pre-order". Type the word and click Scan the site. This uses no credits.
